Hello, my name is Robert Beltrami. I have been an educator for about 10 years now. I started teaching in Southern California and 6 years ago moved to Northern California. This is my 6th year teaching at Del Oro High School and my 4th year at Sierra College. I have taught courses ranging from Beginning and Intermediate Algebra up to Vector Calculus and Statistics. When I'm not teaching, I love to be outdoors. Hiking and rock climbing are 2 of my favorite activities. I also spend time working on cars. I'm currently working on a 1969 Chevy C10 and a 1975 International Scout II.
I was a student at Sierra College until 2000, after which I transferred to UCSD to earn my bachelor's degree. After doing some actuarial work for a couple years, I went back to school to get a teaching credential and master's degree from Sac State. I returned to Sierra College as an instructor in 2012.
When I'm not teaching, I can usually be found playing with my two kids, camping, or nerding out on the computer. If you're looking for me, just follow the smell of coffee.
Education/Achievement/Certification:
Have you ever heard of ‘God's Own Country” or “The Spice Garden of India”? If you google you can find that it is “Kerala”. Kerala means “the land of coconuts”. I grew up in Kozhikode City, Kerala. It is a beautiful state full of greenery, mountains, and rivers. It is at the south-west tip of India, on the shore of the Arabian Sea. I moved to Dallas, TX after my marriage because my husband was working at Texas Utilities.
I worked at The Ohio State University, Ohio as a full-time faculty for almost ten years before moving to California. Also, I have experience in working as Asst. Director/Program Coordinator of the Math Center at OSU. Before that, I was working at Columbus State Community College as an adjunct faculty.
My daughter is studying at UC Davis. Now, you know the reason for me moving from Ohio to California! We live with our big family which includes Papillons (dogs), geckos, bearded dragons, two ball pythons, a variety of fishes, crabs, lobsters, etc. at our Roseville home.
I can speak, read, and write Malayalam, Hindi, and English. Of course, I can communicate with you through Mathematics.
I am here to teach you the theories and techniques to solve practical problems. I can show you how fun Mathematics is if you are willing to learn new things.
Hi, I have been teaching full-time at Sierra College for 22 years. I was previously at American River College for 23 years where I also served as the Dean of the Math, Engineering and Drafting department. I love teaching and I am always looking for innovative ways to engage students and excite them about mathematics. I currently use ALEKS with College Algebra, Statistics and Trigonometry courses. I also use Top Hat an all-in-one platform that allows students to engage with one another through Top Hat community and with me.
